ICON Advisers is a boutique firm based in Greenwood Village, Colorado, and since its inception, ICON has employed a unique and disciplined investment approach to the way we manage assets. In 1986, Dr. Craig Callahan founded ICON using a modernized Benjamin Graham valuation model to systematically determine the intrinsic value of individual companies in order to make clear, objective investment decisions.
Today, ICON offers a diverse lineup of mutual funds, Tactical Allocation Portfolios, and Strategy Based Investing Portfolios providing a wide spectrum of investment options. With our broad scope and commitment to uncovering value, our Funds and Portfolios can accommodate a wide range of investment needs.
As a dedicated partner, ICON offers a high level of service that includes access to Portfolio Managers, consistent industry thought leadership, and a dedicated staff of sales and client service support.
How the ICON System Works.
ICON’s valuation methodology is rooted in the fundamentals of finance, using company earnings, future growth estimates, risk, and opportunity cost to compute intrinsic value. We avoid simplistic valuation measures such as price/earnings and price/book, which we believe are deficient. Using this system to determine the intrinsic value of each security within our investment universe allows ICON to value industries, sectors, and, finally, the overall market. We believe that the market experiences themes, typically lasting one to two years, whereby certain industries and sectors lead or lag the overall market. We employ an active, tactical, industry-rotation process that tilts our portfolios to undervalued areas of the market in an attempt to outperform passive investments and capture those market themes.
One Investment System Since 1986
ICON systematically analyzes fundamental data in an attempt to capture sector and industry leadership. By focusing on value while applying an active management approach, we’re able to identify the securities we believe are poised to become the next market leaders. Our knowledge and experience enables ICON to stay disciplined and ignore headlines that typically sway investor sentiment. This combination of a systematic investment methodology and active industry rotation distinguishes ICON from other investment managers.
1. Total assets under management include mutual fund assets, assets in mutual fund allocation portfolios that invest in the ICON Funds, institutional accounts, sub-advised and separately managed accounts
There are risks involved with mutual fund investing, including the risk of loss of principal. There is no assurance that the investment process will consistently lead to successful results. An investment concentrated in sectors and industries may involve greater risk and volatility than a more diversified investment.
Active Share is a measure of the percentage of stock holdings in a manager’s portfolio that differ from the benchmark index at a specified point in time.

ICON’s value-based investing model is an analytical, quantitative approach to investing that employs various factors, including projected earnings growth estimates and bond yields, in an effort to determine whether securities are over- or underpriced relative to ICON’s estimates of their intrinsic value. ICON’s value approach involves forward-looking statements and assumptions based on judgments and projections that are neither predictive nor guarantees of future results. Value readings are contingent on several variables including, without limitation, earnings, growth estimates, interest rates and overall market conditions. Although valuation readings serve as guidelines for our investment decisions, we retain the discretion to buy and sell securities that fall beyond these guide-lines as needed. Value investing involves risks and uncertainties and does not guarantee better performance or lower costs than other investment methodologies.
